Core terms

These are the objects most users need to understand before configuring payout logic.

  • Payee: a person, partner, seller, affiliate, creator, contractor, or entity that can receive a calculated allocation.
  • Contract: the commercial terms that a rule should represent in Allocora.
  • Rule: versioned payout logic that decides how source revenue is allocated.
  • Revenue event: a source revenue row such as a sale, refund, or adjustment.
  • Revenue split: a rule-driven allocation of one revenue basis across more than one payee.
  • Royalty: a calculated obligation owed to a rights holder, creator, licensor, or similar payee.
  • Commission: a calculated obligation owed to a partner, affiliate, salesperson, agency, or similar payee.
  • Statement: a payee-facing explanation generated from reviewed calculation output.
  • Settlement: the reviewed obligation set for a period before downstream payout execution.

Workflow terms

These terms explain how payout evidence moves through Allocora.

  • Calculation run: deterministic evaluation of revenue rows against active rules.
  • Adjustment: a correction or delta applied to prior revenue or allocation context.
  • Payout period: the close period being reviewed.
  • Audit trail: the record of important changes, runs, exports, and review actions.
