Docs / Quickstart: Create a Workspace and Load Sample Data

Quickstart

Create a workspace and inspect sample payout data

Use this quickstart when you want to understand Allocora without preparing a production revenue file first.

Before You Begin

  • You can create or access an Allocora workspace.
  • You want to learn with sample data before importing production revenue.

Expected Result

A workspace with sample revenue, products, payees, rules, a calculation run, and statement examples ready for inspection.

Steps

Follow this path

Each step keeps source revenue, rules, calculation output, and statement evidence in a reviewable sequence.

  1. 01

Create a workspace from the Start Free path.

  2. 02

Open onboarding and choose a preset such as SaaS Affiliate Payouts or Marketplace Seller Payouts.

  3. 03

Review the seeded revenue source, products, payees, payout rules, and calculation run.

  4. 04

Open the completed sample calculation run and inspect payee-level output.

  5. 05

Use the reset or reseed controls if you want to compare another sample workflow.

What to know

When to use sample data

Sample data is best for first-time evaluation, team walkthroughs, and validating that the payout workflow fits before importing sensitive revenue rows.

  • Use sample data to learn the object model without touching production imports.
  • Use sample runs to see how rules produce payee allocations.
  • Use sample statements to understand what payees and finance reviewers will inspect.

What to inspect first

The fastest path is revenue source, products, payees, rules, calculation run, and statement output in that order.

  • Products show what revenue rows are mapped to.
  • Payees show who can receive calculated allocations.
  • Rules show the payout logic and priority order.
  • Calculation runs show the locked output for a close period.
